I have editec my links.cfg to $build_use_templates=1. When I build my pages it still adds the stock generic pages of Links right above all of the template HTML. How can I remedy this?

You have to change the following variable in the links.cfg file:

$build_site_title

Change it to your site title.

I have already changed the site tile: $build_site_title = 'aBudokan Resources Index';
Still no go.

What now? =)

UH...DID YOU RE-BUILD YOUR INDEX??!?!?!?!?

AFTER MAKE CHANGES IN YOUR FILES, YOU NEED TO RE-BUILD YOUR INDEX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re-build index?!?!?! Of course I did. Still no go. I did "Build All", tried "Staggered", but still shows the generic pages above the HTML.

Well, but the title is changed, right????

To change the look and feel of your site, here are two suggestions:

1) Edit ALL the template files located in the Template directory that can be accessed in the LINKS MANAGER console.

2) Download one of the templates from the Resource Center.

This I have done, also. In fact, the templates I'm trying to use are from the resource center. When I view them in the template editor I see the generice code pasted above the template HTML. When I view the template file itself it is fine and as it should be.

Where are viewing these template files? Via your web browser or Off-line text editor?


What generic codes are you referring to?

And also change the permissions of the files to 666 (rw-rw-rw-).

I the generic codes I was referring to was simply the stock Links generated pages.

Anyway, the gremlin has been beaten. How? I dunno. I uploaded the template HTML files 3 times to no affect in the outcome. Time #4, it worked. Why? Again, dunno. And yes, I u/led them in ASCII every time and all that shabang. As it is, I'm ecstatic. I think if I dwell on it any more that the everything will jack up again. So that's that. =)
