build all and no permisions to access home page

i have an f2s site and when i click on the build all i get this:

While trying to retrieve the URL: [no URL]

The following error was encountered:

Zero Sized Reply

Squid did not receive any data for this request.

When i click on homepage i get this

You don't have permission to access /directory/ on this server.

directory is my pages directory its there iset permision to 755

i check the other thread but clicking on the supposed solution brings you to the index.
i also edited the nph-build.cgi but still won't work.
help? please?

The "directory" folder should be 777, not 755...and make sure that you are NOT building your directory pages in your cgi-bin folder.

F2s.com don't allow 777 permissions to be set Wink

Yeah. There is no support (well, there is, but it seems to always be half done), and their System/Perl script settings are stupid! For example, you set a folder to 777, and everything in that folder will produce 500 IS Errors! Frown

If you can afford it, you may was well get a simple package (most hosting companys offer a start package, starting at sometimes as low as $5 per month!) and save your self having to scrounge around for free hosts Wink

once i solve "zero sized reply" with giving correct path to perl in the first line of nph_build.cgi ...

Hello,

I am also on f2s. I installed Links 2.0 on one f2s site. I had some difficulty at first but received some help from GossamerThreads. All is well on that site now.

I then installed GossamerThreads on another site but I keep getting the same error,
Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /links/pages/ on this server.

I have CHMODed the Pages folder over and over again to 777 with no success. Cannot figure out why this is happening. Mad

. BTW f2s does allow CHMODing to 777 .

If anyone knows why this is happening would sure appreciate the info.

a stupid suggestion but what about the /"links"/pages errrr.... the links folder???
