Unkown Tag: Date
Ive just installed the script and was playing with it and am using the snap templates...As far as I can tell the pages all load fine except when I go to load the home page after I rebuild the pages...I get this unknown tag: Date failure, Anyone got a clue??

I keep getting stuck here too. If anyone knows how to get past this, let us know.

I can get the yahoo templates to work for the most part, but I don't really like the way they look. I thought the snap ones might look better.

Does everyone else just make their own templates?

Since this pertains to a mod, you might have better luck posting it in the Links Modifications forum.

open site_html_templates.pl

go to the line with:

date => $date

and add:

Date => $date

This is the fix from the author of the templates. Fixed my problem.

How exactly did you add that fix?

I tried adding that line below, then next to, then I tried just capitalizing the original line, and none of them worked for me.

Is there more than one instance of
date => $date in the template? I could find only one.

Thanks.

# You can put variables here that you would like to use in any # of your templates.

%globals = (
date => &get_date,
Date => &get_date,

NEXT go to:
# This rountine will build a page based for the current category.

return &load_template ( 'category.html', {
date => $date,
Date => $date,

This is the fix the author of the templates gave me. Fixed those issues but you will come up against some more.Until we register the templates we will not be bothering the author as he has done an excellent job with these templates.

Code:
# You can put variables here that you would like to use in any # of your templates.

$Today = &get_date;

%globals = (
Today => $Today,

Now you can change <%date%> or <%Date%> to <%Today%> in templates when referring to today's date and <%Date%> when referring to the link's modified date. You also have $Today available to use in site_html_templates (and elsewhere) where templates are not used.

I hope this helps.

Many, many thanks.

I'll see if I can tweak this thing so I can test out the templates.

Hi Bobsie!

I altered the site_html.pl file according to what you said.

As far as I am aware there is one place in the home.html and one place in links.txt or links.html file (whatever one is using ) that needs altering. When I did the changes, rebuilt the pages - ALL the links have disappeared from the categories.

Nothing I said would cause the links to disappear. If you are putting the links in a table, make sure the table is closed properly or look for some other type of error. All I did was tell people how to correct problems with the data, which does not affect the links.

I'd just like to thank all of you, especially Bobsie for helping me secondhand.

I searched for 'unkown date' and found this thread.

I implemented the %Today% global variable and it worked like a charm. Grassyass. > Smile
