Password protecting Admin???

Password protecting Admin???
I need to know if the Admin folder needs to be in the cgi-bin. The server I use has software to makes setting up password protected directories a snap but they don't include the cgi-bin.

I'm not familiar with .htaccess, how would I set up password protection if I can't move the Admin set.

Thanks . . . Scott

As far as I know, there is no requirement that Links be installed in the cgi-bin. If you can run cgi scripts from non-cgi directories (i.e., a web directory), you can install it there. Just be sure to modify the paths in links.cfg accordingly.

The best way is to use the Gossamer Threads' FileMan script. With it, you can password protect any of your directories and a whole lot more.
