PLEASE HELP!! / Why Why this 500 error??
Hello,

I am about to tear my hair out. I cannot figure out why I keep getting this 500 error. I keep going over it but I just cannot figure it out. I like to solve problems myself because I feel you learn more when you solve it yourself but in this case I have to ask for help. I just do not know what I am doing wrong.

I hope someone can help me. I thank all in advance for any and all help with this problem.

ADMIN ADDRESS: http://www.jaja.f2s.com/cgi-bin/links/admin/admin.cgi

I am on a "Freedom to Surf" ( http://www.f2s.com ) web host site.

01. I changed all the perl lines from #!/usr/local/bin/perl to #!/usr/bin/perl . (This is necessary for F2S.)
02. I made the changes to the "cfg" file. (PLEASE SEE BELOW).
03. I uploaded the files (all of them) in ASCII mode.
04. The basic layout of the script is
www.jaja.f2s.com/cgi-bin/links
www.jaja.f2s.com/links
05. I CHMODed the "cgi" scipts (all 10 of them) to 755
06. I CHMODed the files in the data directory to 666 . I did not CHMOD the directory folders themselves inside of the data directory only the files.
07. I CHMODed all the files inside of the template directory to 666. (I did not CHMOD the template directory folder to anything)
08. I CHMODed the "hits" and "ratings" directory folders to 777. The files inside of them had been previously chmoded to 666.
09. I CHMODed the "pages" directory folder inside of the links directory folder which is just off the root to 777 (That is, "www.jaja.f2s.com/links/pages" )
10. I created a "log.txt" file, placed it into the "admin" directory folder and chmoded it to 666.

i'll have one guess. IS the admin folder CHMODed to 777? If so, change it to 755 Smile F2s have a funny CHMOD system, and if you CHMOD it to 777 you won't get any script working withing that folder! Also remember to CHMOD to 755 with the other folders that use the CGI Scripts (like the cgi-bin, etc).

Hope that helps
