Has anyone installed more than one copy of Links 2.0 on the same hosting account to run two or more entirely separate links directories?

If yes, did you face any specific challenges?
And, can anyone else comment on such an approach?

I am planning to run two entirely separate links directories -- one will be jobs related and the other will be software related. I have not installed it as yet but I am thinking of creating two separate folders within my cgi-bin folder... cgi-bin/jobs/ and cgi-bin/soft/ where their respective scripts will be stored. Similarly I will have 2 separate folders from the root folder for the public html pages... domain.com/jobs/ and domain.com/soft/

Please advise and comment.

Just make sure you store the files for each directory in seperate directories. That is all you need to do.

It was in the past - it isn't available now.

All you do is upload two copies on the scripts into different directories and alter links.cfg to build one set of pages in one place and the other set somewhere else.

By the way, have you used it with multiple domains pointed / parked on the same hosting account?

If you have, which paths did you use in the cfg? Lets assume the hosting account is for alpha.com and your second domain also pointing to the same account is beta.com. In the cfg file you need to define various paths as http while others as actual server paths as /blabla/users/alpha/ so I don't think http paths would be a problem... they could be
http://www.aplha.com/alphapages/ and
http://www.aplha.com/cgi-bin/alpha/ for the alpha domain and similarly
http://www.beta.com/betapages/ and
http://www.beta.com/cgi-bin/beta/ for the beta domain.

My concern is how should we handle the server paths? Should they remain
/blabla/users/alpha/cgi-bin/alpha and
/blabla/users/alpha/cgi-bin/beta etc.
or should they also be
/blabla/users/beta/cgi-bin/beta for the second domain?

Please advise.

If you are pointing a domain, it normally just runs off the same path. They won't create another account for that host, so it just stays the same. You may have to add a /beta/ bit after the other path, but it depends on how your server works. Did that help? Or have I got the wrong end of the stick

Although, keep in mind that the first web site has been upgraded to Links SQL, but both were running off two copies of LINKS 2.0 for about two and half years, with no problems.

No...none of the "hacks" will work with LINKS 2.0, since they are written for LINKS SQL/MySQL!

Sorry...and I don't release custom mods/code hacks any longer for any GT products...too much time to support them and also enhance them...
