Htpasswd
BlushHi,

I am just wondering whether Htpasswd can be used with Microsoft Access or is it only for web documents?

Cheers!

Do you mean protecting .mdb files? I am unsure what you are asking. Would you please be more specific?

Hi Stealth,

If I am not wrong, htpasswd stores passwords to access web documents. I am wondering can I use the same sets of passwords to restrict access to .mdb files.

Thanx.

Cheers!

Yes, you can.

htaccess/htpasswd authentication protects ALL files within a folder/directory in your web accout, not only "web" document file types.

All you have to do is put the .mdb file in the directory/folder that contains the .htaccess/.htpasswd files.

Good luck!

Paul is correct. Check with your host they need to be running Apache Web server for you to use htaccess/htpasswd. My X-host ran MS IIS and htaccess/htpasswd did NOT work.
