Folder Permissions? Did I do it right?

Folder Permissions? Did I do it right?
Reading the install file (not really familiar with CGI or Perl, I know a LITTLE unix), I set the file permissions as stated in the file. But I wasn't sure about what to set the actual directory (folders) permissions to. I left the folder permissions as created, but got some errors on building the pages. I set some of the folder permissions to 777 (under admin) and it works now. But I am worried, have I left myself open for a problem? The admin folder is password protected..

Here is how my folders are currently set up. Please let me know if I need to change anything. (cgi-local is the top directory where all links stuff is under)

drwxr-xr-x cgi-local

drwxr-xr-x admin
drwxrwxrwx backup
drwxrwxrwx data
drwxrwxrwx templates

Thanks

I tried searching for posts related to this, but didn't find any. I apologize if this is rehashing an old subject.

Looks fine to me...BTW: There is a Thread that lists all file and directory permissions in the Resource Center, which is the first place to check for answers to problems you are experiencing and modification ideas.
