Haven't found an answer by searching the forum.

When I use admin to delete a category and links they no longer appear in Links as expected. However, when I use "Search" the deleted items still appear in the results.

The deleted items are still in a directory on my server. Is it suppose to be this way or have I incorrectly installed Links?

Is it OK to manually delete those folders from the server?

Yes, actually you should delete them manually that way you keep your directories clean. But until you rebuild the site the links info will still also show up in your pages. Though once rebuilt they shouldn't (either in your pages or in the search).
