I am trying to password protect my admin directory, and I don't understand how to create a .htaccess file. Coulc someone help me. I tried doing it in notepad, but it saves it as .htaccess.txt

right, then just upload it and rename it to .htaccess and it should be ok.

Your best best it to download File Manager from
http://www.gossamer-threads.com/scripts/ install it and find the admin dir click on the password link, then enter your username and password it will then be password protected. Do you have Telnet access? Their is a Telnet command that will do it for you but I'm not quit sure what it is. You might want to get you system admin.. to do it for you.
