CGI Error when building

CGI Error when building
Hi,

I've looked through the FAQs and searched the discussions. I tried building but I got an error saying that nph-build.cgi could not access the home page.CGI ERROR
==========================================
Error Message : unable to open home page: /index.html. Reason: Permission denied
Script Location : nph-build.cgi
Perl Version : 5.00503

I have absolutely no idea what it's talking about. I followed the instructions properly, the permissions are set correctly and the paths to this and that and that and this are also correct. Any ideas? Thanks in advance! :>

I think this is a very basic error. All it means is that you havn't uploaded an index.html file into the generated pages directory. You also need to CHMOD this file to 666.

Hope this helps

I thought you should chmod to 777 but 666 might work. Try 666 first, if that don't work try 777
Good Luck,

Re: CGI Error when building In reply to
The permission should be set to 777 (drwxrwxrwx) to make it worldwide readable,
writeable, and deletable. To overwrite changes via the web browser in the admin.cgi
script, the file needs to be set to the above stated permission.

I´m experiencing the same problem. What exact steps did you make to solve it?

My error message reads like this:

CGI ERROR
==========================================
Error Message : Unable to copy links backup. Reason: Permission denied
Script Location : /home2/roberto/public_html/cgi-bin/links/admin/nph-build.cgi
Perl Version : 5.006

I set the permissions correctly and Build It doesn´t work.

Re: CGI Error when building In reply to
1) You need to have a file called links.db.bak in your data directory.

2) This file must be set to (chmod) 666 (rw-rw-rw-).

This has been discussed before in this forum...try searching for the error message you receive via the forum's search engine...and use EXACT phrase option.

Uh...NO, Paul!

All DATA files need to be chmod 666 in the data!

Re-read my post and refer to the README file or the directory file permission Thread linked in the FAQ!
