Build all taking out Apache and of course times out
Hi all,

Made it through a staggered build ok though.

What does "Detailed Building" turned off around step 3 mean in Staggered?

However, Build ALL takes out Apache.

Build all with 4000+ links is taking a long time to build and Apache is being dumped unclean.
We did some re-arranging of some Catagories, added a bunch of links etc. Nothing else was changed.

One Catagory has about 40 subpages "more".
Some others might have 20-25.

Running on my own server, and the only thing running there except, the typical web server stuff, Sendmail, TCPwrappers, Pine, Procmail, Perl, Apache 1.3.9, etc.

The only thing bring used was Links at the time, with the exception of external accesses.
Machine is PII 150, 64 Meg Ram, 4GIG SCSI drive.

Thanks,

Dave

If you haven't figured it out yet...you should use telnet to re-build your index. It is a lot faster and uses less server resources.

Eliot,

Thanks, Telnet is what I suspected I should do. Many catagories etc.
I'll try that. Even though the server is dedicated, it's probably pegging the 64Meg of RAM or whacking the cpu when building.
