I think that the permission for all files is OK.

Uh...as discussed before in this forum...You need set the permission of the backup directory to 777 (drwxrwxrwx) and also you need to have a blank file in your data directory called links.db.bak and make sure that this file is to 666 (rw-rw-rw-).

It seems to me, after having wrestled with this problem, that changing the 'data' directory itself to 777 solves the problems. I too followed the instructions to the letter but this seems to solve it.

Can you help me in my case? I follow your instrection, all permissions are okay, but I don't see and pages are build in non-cgi directory ../links/pages

Hold exaktly on the Install informations ..
I had the same problem ... the way is easy ...
the file "index.count" in the hits dir must
chmod 777 and the hits dir , too.

Then delete your pages dir and create it
new. Then (dont forgett!!!) chmod the pages dir 777 again.
Click on build and it will work ...
