I got everything installed on the server. The admin panel works just fine, and I can look at the add.cgi page, etc...
the questionis, in the admin.cfg file it asks for a path to COOL and HOT, what do I do about these?
Also, which file to I point to in order to use the search engine? There doesn't appear to be an index file.

There is no such file as admin.cfg and it doesn't ask for a path to what's Hot.....

If you mean links.cfg they you don't need to touch those paths....as long as you have added the path correctly for where the pages are to be built then the new, cool, rating and built pages will all go inside that directory automatically.

If you don't know where to go to perform a search then you are in trouble - especially as there is a search box on almost every page!!

....and yes there is an index file..try....http://www.kiwireport.com/pages....after building!!
