When I go to the home page for admin.cgi file, I get a big flashing warning:

ADMIN DIRECTORY IS NOT PASSWORD PROTECTED!

How do I password protect the admin directory and get rid of this warning?

Should I remove admin.cgi when I am not intending to do admin work? Thanks for any help.

You can do one of the following:

1) Use .htaccess to password protect your directory. Please consult your hosting company or ISP about using this method.

2) Use the password protection script located in the Resource Center of this site.

3) Change the permission to 444 of your admin.cgi when you are not using it.

I don't have access to .htaccess, so I must use a script or is there any other way to secure the admin.cgi.

What's the name of this script. I can't find it in the resource center.

Nope...I use .htaccess.

I would recommend going to cgi-resources.com and use one of the Password Protection scripts that does not depend on .htaccess.
