I posted this a month ago but have had no responses. If anyone could help, I'd sure appreciate it. Here is is again...

Finally got Links2 up and running smoothly...except when I try to visit external links (as in, those not on my site) generated by Links2 using Internet Explorer, I only get DNS errors. The pages won't come up. I tried it on two computers at home using both IE 4 and 5 and also had someone else try it. Same error on every link.

Has anyone else had this problem? Any ideas?

you are right, it is not working.

it is not the external links that are not working though, it is any link that goes to a .cgi program.

The things that may be possibly wrong are:

1. permissions on directories for cgi programs ?


oh wait.. i may have found the problem

look at a typical link to the cgi program

http://tarotfool/cgi-bin/links/jump.cgi?ID=173

there is no .com in the tarotfool.

perhaps netscape works this out and puts it in.

you need to change links.cfg i think.
