As has been discussed MANY times in this forum and in the Installation Forum for UNIX...if you have access to .htaccess, then use it. If you don't know how to configure it, talk to your hosting company.

If you do not have access to create and manage .htaccess files, then read the Topic called ADMIN PASSWORD MOD in the LINKS MODIFICATION FORUM.
