this may be a sily question but can i take an existing dbman .db file and assuming the fields are the same use it in links?
if so would i rename it url.db and upload

Well, what you need to do if you are transferring your DBMAN system into LINKS is to re-name the default.db DBMAN file to links.db. Also, you need to use the links.def and links.cfg files...there are subtle differences between default.cfg in DBMAN and links.def in LINKS.

BTW: The url.db file in LINKS only stores the URL of the "record" and record id, like the following:

1|http://www.domain.com
2|http://www.domain2.com
