I have currently 190 entries in my links database and now have the opportunity to
add about 1000 more entries.

does anyone have experience how this will
affect the performance of links?

A safe limit is around 1,500 which should work on almost any ISP account. Some ISP's give ridiculously low amounts of CPU usage to scripts, others allow more. Some ISP's run the system with 1200 users on it, other go around 150. It really depends a lot on the system you are on.

Quite a few people use the program with 4,000 links or so, and there are no problems.
