Hello everyone.

I am fustrated. I am currently doing a college project, and am considering using Link2. After looking through the entire gossamer thread homepage, I am unable to come to any real conclusion or find any useful information on the product.

Where are all the user manual, user guide, installation guide or documentation on gossamer thread products? Even the Site In Action are not real websites that utilise Link2. FAQ is also useless.

For the time being, I need to know:

1) Samples of websites that use Link2 to display their hompage.
2) Link2 requires Perl5, is ActivePerl ok?

I must admit that I have little knowledge of CGI and Perl (although I have spent 3 months learning Perl and CGI on the net), and limited knowledge on web development.

I don't really know how a script works, or how to get it to work (Do I need Perl5 already installed) I know I'm too used to WYSIWYG products. For the college project, I think I also need a database as a backend.

Any info, help would be greatly appreciated. I guess I need a mentor, or any kind soul out there to have a look at the website that I have do the college project on (to give me any advice or what techniques/products I need to use, intergration problems as the site is done in Front Page, platform is Windows NT)

You can use ActivePerl on NT, that should be fine. If you don't have it installed (perl) then you will need to install it by following the installation instructions.

To find sites using Links2 then there is a long list of sites in action in the Resources area. Here are some of my sites that use it...

There is a readme with Links2 that should help you get it up and running but there is also this forum with tons of info that you can search if you get stuck, or you can posts questions.
