We are going to add Phone and Fax fields to the DB. However one particular category requires a field that is of no use to any other category.

i.e. Churches - field required - Service Times.

Seeing no other category requires this field how would you suggest this be accomplished within Links2.

I don't completely understand your question, Ian. To make fields required, all you do is set the field to 1 in the links.def field in the required attribute of the field.

Here is the issue another way then.

One category called Churches needs a field called "Service Times" in the database.

Title,Category,address,contact,Service times,url,email,phone,fax.

"Service Times" is only relevant to that category.

All other categories only need the following fields on the add form.

Title,Category,Address,Contact,URL,email,Phone,fax.

Pray that is clearer.

Here's a suggestion...I don't know if it's what your looking for, or even right for that matter, but worth a shot:

I'm not sure how you would NOT have the field on your add form, but why not just make that field Not required...that way people could still submit there link and leave that field blank. Then to call the field couldn't you just use something like this in your link.html?

<%endif%>

Like I said..I'm not sure if this is right, but it was just a thought.
