Spidering
Can someone in email give me some helpful hints on how to import spidered links into links2.

I downloaded a demo of Spider Pro which has support for Links2.

Many thanks.

Hello, Ian!

I don't know if you have been following the wow Thread in the LINKS Modification Forum, but Widgetz (Jerry) is working on a few spidering scripts. One is called geturl.cgi, which puts links into a temporary file, spider.db. He is working on a way to export data from the spider.db into the links.db file.

I would read that Thread over in the Modification Forum and also contact Jerry to ask him about the script.

Cheers,

Greetings Elliot!

Thanks for the reply. Have read some of the "wow" thread, but I go back and read it again.

We are at the stage where we would like to increase the links in our DB and the only this is going to happen is by spidering using specific keywords.

The program I mention actually outputs a links.db and a linkid.txt. In the setting you can define which category the entries it goes into.

So what I was going to do is look at that mod in the resource centre which allows bulk importing and make a category in my DB called import and move all the links under import into the correct categories then delete the master category. Seems a long way round to me.
