Something wrong, how to solve?

Something wrong, how to solve?
Hi,

on my site, with Links v2.0 and the Dutch templates, I see that if I build all with something new, it doesn't appear on the site, if I try to get there (clicking to the categorie etc.). It is because of the not using index.htm in the links.
Example:
I've got a links-site about a school, Sondervick College.
http://www.bartswebs.f2s.com/sondervick/links
I add categorie Websites_van_personen_op_het_Sondervick_College/Blaarthemseweg

But, if I click on Websites_van_personen_op_het_Sondervick_College, which already existed, I don't see Blaarthemseweg anywhere. In the address-bar: http://www.bartswebs.f2s.com/sondervick/links/Websites_van_personen_op_het_Sondervick_College
If I make that:
http://www.bartswebs.f2s.com/sondervick/links/Websites_van_personen_op_het_Sondervick_College/index.htm
I see the new link.
Where is the problem and how can I solve it??
Greetings,

Bart

Did you by chance change the $build_extension value in your links.cfg file??? Do you have to "default" files in your folders (like index.htm and index.shtml)? If so, delete the old set of files and you should see the edited files.

Hi,

I did change the $build_extension, I changed it back now.
What do you mean with:
"Do you have to "default" files in your folders (like index.htm and index.shtml)? If so, delete the old set of files and you should see the edited files."??

Greetings,

Bart

Delete the files with the old extension which will allow the new ones to show.

I've done so, but it doesn't work.
Still, if I type http://www.domain.com/folder/folder/ you see the old one, if I type:
http://www.domain.com/folder/folder/index.html I see the new one.
HOW COME?

Bart

How can you have deleted it if it still shows up?

DELETE THE OLD PAGES.

I've seen this topic come up several times. For those with Apache, at least, you can change very easily which files are read first by default in your httpd.conf file at this line:

Code:
#
# DirectoryIndex: Name of the file or files to use as a pre-written HTML
# directory index. Separate multiple entries with spaces.
#
DIRECTORYINDEX index.wml index.shtml index.htm homepage.html index.html homepage.shtml
index.cgi homepage.cgi index.htm
Whatever the order of the files here is how your server looks for default files as in the above example it looks for an index.wml first then index.shtml, etc. You can change the order or make them whatever you want.

Granted, Paul. And that is a waste of server space. But knowing how your server works removes part of the mystery.

The majority of people don't have access to edit httpd.conf though.
