Is it possible to create a dropdown list of categories -OR-
other paratmeters defined in the database and put them on the search form (not on category pages, but the stand alone search form) so users can pick and choose?

Ex: Say I have listings by categories and then say under each category, I have "states or cities", with corresponding listing for a particular city. Now, users should be able to go to the search form and then select a category and then a state to search for listings.

Sort of or say pretty close. What if you wanted them to be able to search accross a main category and a subcategory.

Example: Let's say people are looking for a certain "keyword" within the main category "software" and then also select a subcategory "H/PC software". Could you also have the main category dropdown list, right next to the one you have now?
