I want to reinstall links 2.00. So except links.db file, it there any file I need to backup? If I reinstall again do I need to make the categories again?

I have little idea about cgi, that is why, I need some guide about this.

No...the build script will do this for you.

Everything is working but it does not make any index.html file in any subcategories directory. Can you tell me where I make mistake?

Did you set the following variables in the links.cfg file?

$build_extension = ".shtml";
$build_index = "index.shtml";

Also, did you change the permission of your non-cgi-bin LINKS directory to 777 (drwxrwxrwx) as specified in the README file.

You DO have to reset permissions of your LINKS non-cgi-bin directory, New, Cool, and Ratings directories.

It Links directory is permission to 777 and
$build_extension = ".shtml";
$build_index = "index.shtml";

also the above variables set in links.cfg, when I build all it stops, after making some categories. I have near 2000+ categories and sub-categories.

In this forum I found that someone suggest to increase browser time, but I do not find any option in the browser both netscape and internet explorer. Even in telnet it terminate after building some categories.

So, is there any help that you think I can ask my web hosting provider, which can help me to build all categories via telnet?

That is WAY too many categories. Either reducing the number of categories -OR- say hello to LINKS SQL....there are limits to what LINKS 2.0 can do.

And you should only build via telnet OR your browser NOT both!

BTW: It is NOT in the browser where you increase CPU rates, but in the server as sysadmin. You can try to request your hosting company to increase the CPU rate above 60 seconds.
