Question and things I have learned

Question and things I have learned
OK - so I have learned a *few* things:

Never work on 2 servers at once. I thought I would be "smart" and downloaded .cgi's from one to put to the other - thinking I could most easily just "change" a few lines and that is that. Well, I trashed my original script - and learned a lesson!

OK - Question. I have, for the first time in my life, used a style sheet, or the links.css file. I never knew they existed - yes I am a newbie.

Check http://www.johndeere.ws

OK - So what else can I use these style sheets for? I have never used them before, so was unsure - I just popped it into the links/pages file and the page was formatted! Then, because I could not figure out how to get a header on (I have since found it - thanks to your great search engine) I put a background on the side.

Now that I look at it, I will keep it this way.

How can I move the margins over more on the main categories (Links) without interfering with my border? It is at 135 now, and if it goes any more to the left, my border is whited out?

I hope this makes sense - I know it might seem sensless to those with more experience, but I am trying to learn.

Oh - and how does the links page look? This is the first part of my site.

Thanks you for the help - it is good to hear how it looks to other browsers!

Assistance really appreciated!

I am not using templates. I see most of the mods are for use with templates, and I kind of like this the way it is. I really wanted the amazon.com mod on this links director - can I do it without the templates. Maybe I should post this in mods forum.

Thanks for any help!
I love the new page setup, it is very professional!

Embarrased! In reply to
OK - I am embarrased! I guess I *am* using templates! I thought, since I was using the links.css - that I was NOT! Goes to show what a newbie I am - well, at least I got it up and running - I am learning!

Anyway - I went to take the demo links message off the home page, and determined I am using the templates that came with the program. In any case, please stop by and check out the site http://www.johndeere.ws and let me know how you like the style sheet I worked on, and let me know where I can learn more.

Thanks!

Kate

Kate,

Your style sheet seems to have a problem aligning the text in MSIE5. This is a common problem, but can be solved.

Check these sites for stuff about style sheets:

Good luck!
