It just occurred to me that the links.db file would be a lot smaller if the category ID number rather than the category name were stored in each record.

Is this something that you might consider for a future version of links, or is it not feasible?

Just wondering...

Now that would be a good mod, try posting it in the mods forum I`d be interested in the response, means you could have links in a lot more categories subcategories without making the database oversized.

Hi,

I did consider this, however with text files, it does add considerable overhead to look up the category name. This overhead is minimal for SQL server, so with Links SQL we used category id's.
