Did you change the permissions of the backup directory?

Make sure that the directory is changed to 777 or RWX-RWX-RWX.

Also check the permissions on links.db in the admin/data directory. If it is 644 (rw-r--r--) then change it to 666 (rw-rw-rw-) and take a look at the FAQ in the Resource Center at www.gossamer-threads.com/scripts/resources/Detailed/344.html on how to keep it 666.
