Password Protection beyond .htaccess

Password Protection beyond .htaccess
I recently took over the webmaster position, & can't seem to figure out how the previous webmaster set up the password protection to admin. I've got .htaccess in place with passwords set up, but it isn't being recognize by the admin scripts.

Is there a place within the script where you can disable the .htaccess? I've looked through a couple of times, & can't seem to find anything.

Any help is appreciated.

Chris

Huh? Not quite sure what you are on about.

.htaccess is not set by the script. This is done manually (or by a script) in the .htaccess and .htpasswd files...there is no interaction between the .htpasswd and .htaccess with Links 2 Wink

Hi,

If the .htaccess file is causing you problems, why not simply delete the .htaccess file and generate a new one. The following URL provides for a password creator: http://www.i01.de/webmaste3.htm

I am not sure that this solution will help you out but it is worth a try.

Have a look in the data folder and see if you have a file which is called admin.db

If this is the case then you will have to change a few lines in the script to get rid of the admin.db protection.

Or you can change the password in admin.db and continue to use the script.
