My 'New' page doesn't build?!
Hey all.. i have a problem, i have a db of 1.3mb and i just added 500 records the other day, now when i press 'Build All' the first step(s) do just fine, but when it builds 'New pages' the browser sort of 'times out' it shows 'Done' in the left-bottom corner of my browser, and it doesn't load anymore...
HELP ANYONE?!

sorry for the typical response, but there have been quite a few threads recently.

but you might be able to to try.

build staggered
or
build through telnet... there doesn't seem to be a lot of people who can do this, hosting problems, etc .. and the verdict seems to be mixed for those who can.

1.3 megs ... I wonder if you aren't ready to step up to links SQL ... yeah, I know $$$ but you might be happy, I am and I had the same dilema ...

but it was worth it.

good luck

is it hard to 'Port' the database to MySQL?!

Yes.

It would require many alterations to the script - it would be cheaper to buy Links SQL.

hmmm ... import/export is built into linksSQL.

haven't tried it myself since I had no links to import ;-) I gave up on trying to mod links v2 and had other reasons to switch early rather than later, who knows I might not even get anywhere as many links that you have.

I doN't know if you've modified your links alot or not but going from links v2 to LinksSQL v2.05 should go pretty smooth. Hey this is GT eh!

Paul or another guru will be able to explain more / give their personal experience.

Links SQL v2.05 just came out today (well my time at least).

Good Luck either way you decide.

Sorry I misunderstood.

QooQ is correct - it would be very easy to upgrade to Links SQL - the import script will create custom columns based on your fields in links.def. All links, categories, newsletter subscribers, links waiting to be validated, links waiting to be modified etc..will/can all be imported.

It should take a matter of minutes to do, but if you get stuck you can always email me or another experienced Links SQL user, or post a question in the Links SQL forum.

Ok thanks let me overthink it..
but isn't there some variable in the nph-build etc.cgi that sets the 'time to wait until new data is transfered?!' if nothing is transfered in lets say 40 seconds then the cgi stops executing...?!!

There is a time-out limit but your host controls that.
