Links don't work...

Links don't work...
Almost everything works. The script is great. I'm just having one minor problem. The links add fine, it's just when I click on them, I get:

Error: Can't find link id: 5

I don't know what the problem is, please help. Thanks.

You need to Build your index, by using the Build All function in your LINKS MANAGER.

Validating links doesn't do it. You have to re-build your index after you add new sites.

I can't Build All. When I try I get:

CGI ERROR
==========================================
Error Message : Unable to copy links backup. Reason: Bad file descriptor
Script Location : /home/cbrady/romblvd.com/cgi-bin/links/admin/nph-build.cgi
Perl Version : 5.00404

I have the same exact problem as Darkdays has described in his initial post.

Error: Can't find link id: 5

Now I have tried the Build All, however I get this message:

Backing up database . . .
Backing up links, category and email database (File::Copy) ...

CGI ERROR
==========================================
Error Message : Unable to copy links backup. Reason: Permission denied
Script Location : /home/usr31/cgi-bin/links/admin/nph-build.cgi
Perl Version : 5.00503

Please help me figure this one out. I have checked, double checked, and tripled checked my permissions, and I dont see what could be wrong.

Thanks

You have to change the permissions of the backup directory to 777 (rwxrwxrwx), which has been mentioned NUMEROUS times in the Installation forums.

Good...and how did you fix it, if I may ask? Did it deal with file or directory permissions, like I recommended?

Your cryptic comments allude me to believe that my comments were not completely helpful.

It was just that I had solved the problem right before your post, and that is where that comment came from, but believe me, I appreciate your time to help.

Sorry, but I have the same problem. I check all path and permission, but when I go to admin.cgi and try to add a category, it says:
Error: Unable to Add Category

There were problems with the following fields:
Name (Invalid format)
Please fix any errors and submit the record again.

So, I tried to Build All, and I have same
CGI ERROR
==========================================
Error Message : Error building! Links database is 0 bytes!
Script Location : nph-build.cgi
Perl Version : 5.00502

Form Variables
What I have to do? Can you tell me what you did ?

Use the Cat Check option in the LINKS MANAGER console (admin.cgi).
