Greetings Newguy!

You can make your site look any way you wish.

One can use templates. There are some ready made ones in the Resource Center which you can then alter to suit your purposes. Or you can make up your own templates and insert the <%tags%> any on the page that you wish the links info to appear.

Or you can elect not to use templates, then all the configuring is done via the site.html.pl.

PS : It has been said that dreamweaver messes up the <%tags%>. We use FP2000 which no longer has this problem.

Hope that helps.

Hi fellow Dreamweaver user,

Customising Links with DW2 is a breeze. I did my whole Links customisation at http://www.theprequels.net/pages

using Dreamweaver 2

Well, since i made my last post i have had nearly 40 people email me regarding how i did the customising so here's a reply i did to the latest person i replied to...

======

what you do is go into your admin panel from your web site. You should have
a link on the left menu in your admin panel to 'Edit Templates' function

select that...

Then you will see a drop down menu with all the html and txt files you have
to edit.

When you select for instance add.html and then hit the edit button the
browser window will load up with only the bare essential html and link's
tags in it.

Before you do any editing.... go to the bottom of the page and you will see
a text box with the save button next to it - save a copy of the file you
want to edit before you do any editing...

so for add.html when loaded - type in addbk.html and hit save

what that does is save an exact copy of add.html and name it addbk.html.

Do that will every single file in you drop down box.

This is a safe guard against messing up your original.

then load add.html again and then select all and copy and past into a blank
DW3 page

You then save it as something like add_original.html

then open your own custom site design and then import only the tags you find
in add_original.html and then save it.

once saved you go into html mode and select everything in the html window
and cut and past into a loaded version of add.html from your admin panel.

save it and do the same for all files...

This would be well suited in the FAQ section of LINKS in the Resource Center...you should considering submitting these instructions there.
