I would like to be able to do a search on links.db by just sending a specific command. IE, "search.cgi?Category=auto/magazines" so I just get all the records in the specified category.


I searched in this forum for ideas but could not find anything.

Alex said before that that actually works. You can search by fields, search for /search.cgi?Contact+Name=Tim+Ryan, it should bring back links. For the category, I'd only search for Magazines, and there is also Widgetz's mod that lets you search in categories alone.

Interesting statement
I just tried the command (Bmxer suggested above)...
search.cgi?Category=Advertising
and it worked fine. However, I would like to have a "look-see" of your site that has that mod you mentioned. It would be nice to see what it does that the latter command does not do.

If you mean widgetz mod, yeah, its cool, its only like a 5 line mod in 2 or 3 files and it will search a category alone, so if you search globally for news it will bring back say a link from News_and_Media/News, and Sports/News. But if your in the category News_and_Media, it will bring back only the link you got from News_and_Media and no sports.
