After a test with a new entry, there is no "your link has been added" email going out. I suspect I need to change a setting. My website is on a web based server, not Linux. My mail server path is: mail.domainname.org. Where do I need to make changes so that email will get sent?

That's not your server path, that's you IP's mail server address. In links.cfg it should be /usr/sbin/sendmail

Try checking your Email Options in links.cfg...

# Notify visitors automatically when their links are validated?
$db_email_add = 1;
# Notify visitors automatically when their links are modified?
$db_email_modify = 0;
