Difference between templates and site_html.pl
This may be a silly quesiton. sorry about that.

I am wondering the way people change the layout of links. I see the templates as the way to do it, ie just changing the code there. however on some of the modifications i hear about changing site_html.pl or something equivalent. Which do I do?????

Is there any FAQ on changing the templates anywhere?

site_html.pl takes the place of site_html_templates.pl + template files.

Rather than using 'templates' the page layout is hard coded into the site_html.pl file.

There are advantages to each, but the advantages of using templates far outweigh any advantage to not using them. They make it very easy to change the look of your site, or only parts of it, without affecting any other part.

Hi,

if you are not using the templates, you can change the layout in site_html.pl and links.css, that works fine.
If you want to have a look, go to http://www.sonderpaed.de/ ("Linkportal") and tell me, if I can help you with that changes.
