Cleaning up Search Results

Cleaning up Search Results
I was wondering where I would include the following code in the search.cgi file that would take out the %20 characters in the Search Result page:

Code:
---------------------------------------------
$term =~ s/%20/ /g;
---------------------------------------------

I have tried placing in a number of places but can't seem to clean up the characters.

To see a working example of this, go to

http://www.anthrotech.com/cgibin/wwwvl/search.cgi

Type in "applied anthropology" in the search field.

TIA.

Why do people insist on posting the same message in multiple forums? I just answered this at http://www.gossamer-threads.com/...um3/HTML/001789.html .

People may not understand the concept of "searching" for an answer to a question before they post a new one.

Jimz,

Yes I know that some people do not search first, but that wasn't what I was asking. I was referring to the identical message (word for word) being posted in two diffeent forums. This seems to happen a lot around here for some reason.

Since you have ignored my email message, Bobsie...I will post my response here!

The reason that I posted this particular Item in two forums is that I read your recommendation to post modification questions in the "Links Modification" forum rather than the "Links Discussion" forum AFTER I posted the Item in this forum.

I think the causing factor of duplicate postings in these forums is that there is a fine line between "feature requests, comments, suggestions" (the description for this forum) and "Taking your installation to the next level" (the description for the "modification" forum). What I have observed is that people post "modification issues" in this forum rather than the modification forum.

I would appreciate Alex redefining the forums to make it perfectly clear what type of information should be posted in each forum!!
Also, Forum Moderators should be a little more understanding and patient of people who have issues with these scripts!

Please be more understanding of people who are asking for assistance. Terse responses and reprimands are definite turn-offs!

BTW: JimZ, I do use the search option FIRST and FOREMOST before posting Items in forums!
I spend about twenty to thirty minutes for each issue I have to find relevant Items! So, please do not make assumptions of people!

Eliot,

I was not ignoring your email message. I just decided to wait until my head was cooler before replying to it. I am not required to respond immediately to any email I receive but, I normally do for normal email. When I get email that upsets me, I wait until I have time to settle down before answering as I find that I can eliminate saying things that I may regret. In fact, I was going to answer it after checking the messages in the support forum.

Since you decided to make it public on the assumption I was ignoring it, I will now certainly ignore it and won't respond to it here either.

Have a good day.
