I have setup the LINK's 2 with formating for for listings with appropriate linking which all works fine.

The output for the Catagories on the home page and links of are:

Categories:

Accommodation (4) new
(*) Links to sites listing accommodaion

Is there any way of making the indent (*) flush to the left hand margin instead of indenting the description under "Accommodation"

The CSS that controls the styles, has no pixels or otherwise controling margins, and the ones that do are set to 0.

Yea...as mentioned before in the LINKS forums...DELETE the definition list codes (<dt><dl></dt></dl>) found in the sub site_html_print_cat routine in the site_html_templates.pl file.
