I've searched this forum several time, but I can't find a solution for my 'problem'.

I want to display the search results in order of hits or any other field. But the search results keep coming in order of categories and in every categorie sorted in the way I want them.

What changes are needed to stop sorting on categorie?

try searching for the search relevancy mod and then set your search features there, will do exactly what you require.
