I have had success targeting banner ads on one of my sites. I have over 500 categories and I want to be able to zone ads to any category.

I used the non SSI calls. On the pages that I want the banners to show I use a meta key word.

I am splitting the site up into 50 states, so if I want a banner to show only on the Indiana pages. I add indiana to the meta keyword. Then I create my banner zoned for indiana and I add

zone=<%meta_keywords%>

to my banner call.

It's a simple fix but it seems to work fine.
