don't want to build me index in root! help me plea
I have installed Links and page building path is my root dir. It is ok because I want to have this format: url.com/Category...
But problem is that script also builds index.htm in my root and I don't want that, I would like to link manually to categories from my homepage...

Please tell me solution or paste me url if this subject has already been discused (i can't find it).
Thank you very much!!

Why? That seems like more work than it's worth (to manually link categories).

Why not just edit the home.html template to what you want, and that will replace the index.html file in the root whenever you build. It would a lot easier than what you are proposing as your idea would require bits of nph-build.cgi to be re-coded Wink

Just an idea!

No it isn't, because I have only 10 main categories so it is much easier to link them manualy :)

I am not sure if its possible. I got index.php in the root and files in categories are .html?!

Is it possible to change NAME of index file in nph-build.cgi to something else, so it will generate for example file yyy.htm?

thnx

Marko

Make the index.html file you want to use in your root directory. Name it home.html. Put it in your /cgi-bin/links/admin/template/ directory. Now nph_build will use your (desired) index.html as the template. If it contains no dynamic tags, no dynamic information is inserted. What could be easier than that?

I'm not sure it can be done - index must be named index.php and it contains dynamic tags.

Well I am assuming the dynamic tags you are using in index.php are NOT those required by Links 2.0? But php applications.

Just edit in links.cfg;

# The name of an index file.
$build_index = "index.html";
# The extension to use for non index files:
$build_extension = ".html";

to build .php pages. Then you can use PHP tags or whatever you want in the pages as they are static and no longer interact with Links 2 Wink
