Lost 70% of my Database
Hi,
I used the Links v2 cgi script since 3month, and 2days ago i don't know why, i lost 70% of the links of my Database :( i haved 80links and now i have just 34 , and when i try to search in the admin the links whish been lost , thay tell me that this link don't existe.
I haven't got backup :( what can i do ???
It's a bug of the Gossamer script ??? or my webhosting delete something without my autorization???
Bye, Franck

Thats why you always make backups.

It isn't a links2 bug. Did you have flock on?

Have you checked that there aren't any backups in the backups directory?

This thread would be better placed in the Links2 Discussion forum as it isn't to do with Links2 Customization...just something to note in future...

Hi don't worry, I was just telling you for future reference.

You will need to enter the "backups" directory using ftp and then download the .db files for the most recent date (they are named by date).

Rename them appropriately and then re-upload to your data directory.

Hi:

Is the file called links.db, and chmod 666 (rw-rw-rw-)? And as an aside, you did transfer the file in ASCII (text)?

If you uploaded in ASCII, chmodded the file appropriately, named it links.db and have the paths in links.cfg correct then it will work.

Hi:

Does the categories.db file exist in the admin/data/ directory, and is it chmod 666 (rw-rw-rw-). Ensure ALL the files in the data directory are chmod 666.

Re: Lost 70% of my Database In reply to
You will only get this error if:

1. categories.db file does not exist
2. categories.db file exists but not chmod 666
3. categories.db file exists but path to categories.db file incorrect

Re: Lost 70% of my Database In reply to
By default it is categories.db unless you renamed it something else in links.cfg. But the error message gives it as categories.db so ensure you have categories.db and not category.db in the data directory.
