IF statements don't work when Mailing Owners?

IF statements don't work when Mailing Owners?
I tried using an IF statement in the Targeted Mailing/Email Owners section, and it is just ignored. When I don't use the IF statement, the tag displays properly. Here's what I have:

Code:
<%if RSS%>RSS feed: <%RSS%><%endif%>

Do if statements not work in this section?

Try putting the 'if' and the 'endif' on different lines. Depending on your template parser, could make a difference.
