With all the sign up bots running around the internet, it would be nice to have a feature on sign up where users are required to enter a random text/numeric string to validate the sign up process.

I think feature is there on GM and it can be setup in the Setup>>User Options>>User SIgnup and then set the last itme to Email. This would set GM to verify the email address before the signup is complete. Hope I understod yr query correctly

I had to discontinue the same for two reasons:

I did not want a probable registrant to think of alternative email address when I am offering one, more so why should I force them to have one?. ( a marketing point of not dishing out an alternative )

Many registrants did not have an alternative email address.

However, I would want to make the email address (demographics) as optional instead of required field. I tired and goofed up so put up an alternative. I am just thinking of putting it as a hidden field with some xxx.yyy2324567.com).
