Hi,

Sorry to be bugging you like this Jerry, but are there any plans w/ forum.cgi, or are you planning on releasing it?

I think that it is a great script, and would like to implement it on a site.

Once again, sorry for the bother. :)

run purely off links sql.. templates and all..

i haven't worked on it for a longgg time.. it is practically feature less except for maybe the tags and stuff..

i could make private messages. that is just another database.. really easy.. who's online is just listing the owner of the sessions..

hmm.. i'm too busy to work on this right now

Hi Jerry,

Thanks for the reply!

Would you be able to email me the required files to rblackstone@scato.com ?

You can send them completely un-edited, and I will piece everything together myself, with out bugging you. This way I atleast have something to start with. :)

Thanks again.

Forum software gets pretty complicated as you start to add in features (try to make everyone happy) but I'm begining to think that a clean, simple, "bbs" program attached to a links-based site might be the over all best answer to many problems.

There are several "large" open source products, but I'm leaning toward one that makes use of DBSQL.pm and the Templates.pm parser of links, just to keep the code "in-line" with everything else. There are plenty of companies working on "general" forum packages, maybe it's time to start co-operative effort on a Links-specific forum package?

Hi pugdog,

A co-operative effort would be very good, but we could be even better off if we had something to start with. That is why I was asking Jerry if we could see what he has so far, and then make changes from there. But I haven't received any response, so he probably is busy.

This discussion is going on in the other forum, as well. Looks like we'll be starting up something once the new version is released so we have the new session data and profile data.

Sounds good! If anyone else would like to contribute to this, please redirect your posts to the thread "Integrated Forum Software?" in the Links SQL Question forum.
