Hi

I choose Popular option for few sites,they have been added under cool category and now
there is a problem because if i modify link
and i put Popular=NO for choosen sites and
rebuild everything changes are not updated.
If i go back and check again for same site
he is still marked as popular.
Can someone tell me how to repair that?

And if i add a new site and i choose
Popular:Yes it doesnt put it under cool category,soo i think that popular function is dead?

I am using links SQL 1.1b3.

Are you modifying in the Admin area or through the modify form?

Are you sure you are reloading/refreshing your "popular" page?

I've never had a problem with that, and the status message when it's building should tell you if changes to the popular status are being effected.

I'd really upgrade to the 1.11 release. If you didn't modify the source code any, it's a minor upgrade at the worst. If you did, most changes will fit in. Now that the 1.11 is out, the 'b' releases are really history.

Yes it says that pop states was modified but it stays under cool links
only way to put it away from there is if i delete that site and
listen that if i add that site again with same title/url/description
he is automatically added under cool sites ,I have no idea why this happened
or how but its annoying.

no i still have this problem.

Any changes to isNew and isPop will be lost when you rebuild the pages. To force something to popular, you should set the Hits count very high.

<sigh> I never looked at it that way.

The best way to work around this, is the same suggestion as for "priority" mods. Create a new field, and call it "cool" or something like that. You can then pick what sites you want as cool, and which you don't.

You probably could add a routine to build a "editor_pick" page, using the build_cool routines, and show off those vs the "popular" links.

This too is on my todo list, probably this week, since my partners are bugging me for it. But my to-do list is about 200 items long.... I need to clone myself.
