Yes, it is a one line change to add that support. Right now Links SQL will change any strange characters in the category name into an underscore, so you no longer need to put underscores instead of spaces and things like 'Computers & Hardware' are valid.
An alternative if you are using two byte charaters is Links SQL can build directories based on category ID's instead of names, so the directory will be /pages/3/4/ or something similiar.
