Hello,
at present I am hoping to change my domain with my host. In order for this to happen I have to back-up and save all programs that I have on the server onto my computer...

Now... my problem is: since Links SQL was installed by the people here at Gossamer-Threads and I was never given a copy of the program, how is it possible for me to download the program onto my computer to keep it maybe for future use. The thing is that at the moment I haven't been using it, I am also wanting to change somethings with my host and if I dont have a copy of it (which I paid for) it might disappear into thin air (and so does all the money that I spent for it)...

Another question - since I really don't need it at the moment is it possible for me to re-sell it? to someone else? Obviously I would decrease the price (I'm not trying to make a profit but at least some of my money back)... any answer will be appreciated.

Your registration is on-file with Gossamer Threads, so you can get access to the 'licensed' user area if you need a fresh, or updated, copy of the program.

They keep the licenses by email address and registered domain name, I believe.

But, if you want to back it up, just back up everything in the .../cgi-bin/links subdirectory tree, and the .css file from the .../public/links/pages directory.

As for selling it, you'd need to write to them using the 'support' link above.

About selling - it doesn't matter I'd rather keep the licence I can always use Links SQL in the future.

Since my Links SQL database is empty (because I never used it) I won't need to back up since you said that I can always get a copy in the future since I paid for it in first place. Didn't know that the system works like that!

Make sure when the new code is released (hopefully this weekend) you get your notification and access code to the /licensed/ area.

That's the best way to know you are on "the list" :)

You can then download the new .zip or .tar and file it way for later use. If it's like the others, even with improvements it should fit on a floppy.

Alex has said upgrades are free, so you should keep getting notifications of new upgrades over time.
