Restore Backup
Help!

I had to move servers and I cannot get import.pl to import the backup files created by links SQL!

I looked at the previous threads and while there were a fair number of posts - I seen no answers (at least none that I understood)

I ran setup.cgi and created the MySQL database - and I ran import.pl (there was an older links 2.0 database left in the setup directory from when I converted over from Links 2.0) this did work and imported 1719 links however the current database now has about 1850 entries. I copied over the current backup files to the setup directory and ran Import.pl and got a lot of errors.

Is there not an easy way to restore a backup?

Check the FAQ site, or seach this forum for the "LOAD" command.

You can either import the database files through the SQL Monitor in Links (or better yet MySQLMan, or you can use the "LOAD FROM INFILE" command, to load the files.

The Import.pl won't work, since that converts from Links 2.0 to Links SQL format.

The records in the Links and Category files are already in the right format (the CategoryID matches the ID in the Category file) so you can just import those files directly into the SQL table.

There are several threads -- I know I've posted them -- on how to do this with that data.

Thanks Pugdog;

I guessed that it wanted the absolute path and it worked with the exception of 7 entries with a status of -4 which I went in and did manually.

Hey, 7 records is pretty good :) Think about doing it all by hand <G>
