I really, really, really need linkssql, however I need to know whether or not it would be worth it to upgrade now (being before the update and new code) or after the new code is made. What should I do?

Also, when I do upgrade, would it be possible to run two completely separate databases, with different categories, search forms, and links?

You might as well start now. At least you'll have familiarity with the program, and can start on getting your templates (loook and feel) of the site working.

Code-wise there is no problem running multiple copies of links on the same domain, each program is in it's own directory tree, and has it's own set of parameters.

You'd need to ask Alex about any discounts or licensing.
