I currently have my site hosted on 9netave. To set up a SQL database they ask how large the database should be in megs: 5,10,20,35,or 50. How large should I make the database? Has anyone else used 9netave for links sql?

How much room you need is going to be determined by how many links you have in your database, and what is in each link.
I think the ODP parses in at 2k per link, but any extra indexes, fields, etc, increase that significantly. If you set up a keyword field, or index more than a few fields, the amount of space starts to increase. Most of it is index space, not links space.
The space starts to go up fast, and I think you'll find that even a 50 meg space fills up pretty fast.
